Danny Masterson Wants The Stalking And Harassment Lawsuit Against Him Dismissed

Publish date: 2024-05-06

Nearly three years ago, four women accused former That 70’s Show star Danny Masterson of sexual assault, but criminal charges have never been brought against the actor despite a lengthy investigation. This past summer the women claimed that Masterson has been stalking them, and they filed a lawsuit against the 43-year-old. Now, Masterson is trying to put a stop to the lawsuit, and he has filed paperwork to let the court know he will be arguing for a dismissal in the case.

According to Radar Online, Masterson recently filed a “demurrer to the complaint,” which is a notice to the court that he intends to file a written response to the lawsuit that pleads for dismissal because “even if the facts alleged in the complaint were true, there is no legal basis for a lawsuit.”

That's not a religion. It's a for-profit cult. And one that harasses & stalks anyone who speaks out against being raped by one of its own.https://t.co/BkFJCHQqHq

The four alleged victims sued Masterson, the Church of Scientology, and the church’s leader David Miscavige in Los Angeles Superior Court back in August. The civil complaint from the alleged victims stated that Masterson and the controversial Church of Scientology have “engaged in a physical invasion of privacy, stalking, and a conspiracy to obstruct justice.”

One of the accusers is Masterson’s ex-girlfriend Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, and Masterson says – through his legal team – that the lawsuit is “beyond ridiculous” and the actor has denied all of the allegations made by his accusers.

“I’m not going to fight my ex-girlfriend in the media like she’s been baiting me to do for more than two years. I will beat her in court — and look forward to it because the public will finally be able to learn the truth and see how I’ve been railroaded by this woman. And once her lawsuit is thrown out, I intend to sue her and the others who jumped on the bandwagon for the damage they caused me and my family,” the statement read.

One of the accusers told Radar Online that the Church of Scientology has been dragging this case out and has prevented criminal charges from being filed against Masterson. The anonymous accuser said that charges have been approved all the way up the chain at the district attorney’s office for months, and they have been told by multiple people that they have enough evidence to charge and convict the actor.

The Church of Scientology issued a statement denying the accusers’ claims, calling it a “baseless lawsuit” that will go nowhere because the claims are “ludicrous and a sham.”

“It’s a dishonest and hallucinatory publicity stunt. Leah Remini is taking advantage of these people as pawns in her money-making scam,” claimed church counsel.

A case management conference for the civil suit has been scheduled for January 14th, and the criminal case remains “under review.”
